E.O.N. is an incorporated Association of Curators and Directors of Art Galleries, Museums, Historical Societies, and Archives. Most of these various cultural and historical facilities are all located within the geographical area of the three counties of Elgin, Oxford, and Norfolk, and hence the more easily managed name - E.O.N.
Besides participation in joint promotional and marketing activities, members are invited to take part in regular professional development training opportunities. In addition to these workshops, E.O.N. has traditionally run a group training day for summer students to network and to learn the basics of working in a museum/gallery setting. As with other E.O.N. events, this is a time for sharing concerns and for practicing problem-solving skills.
A resource library that is currently housed at Annandale National Historic Site, in Tillsonburg, includes many helpful books and resource materials, all of which can be borrowed by members. E.O.N. members also have access to a laptop and projector which are stored at the Elgin Military Museum.
In all activities, concerns are shared and discussed, helping to make the often solitary job of a cultural or heritage site director more meaningful and productive.
